Automated NAPTR management and administration
ENUM aims to solve many of the interconnect challenges faced by the Voice over IP industry. ENUM is a technology based on DNS that facilitates the exchange and lookup of numbering plans between co-operating networks. ENUM allows operators to avoid transactional charges associated with usage of Signaling System 7 (SS7) Telephony network, manage the Inter-Office translation peering, simplifying operations, and lowering costs associated with service growth.
The success of an ENUM solution is dependent on its ability to deliver carrier-grade number lookups that compare with the SS7 call setup process, distribute authoritative number plans (for peering purposes) to resolvers responsible for number lookup and its support for integration with core VOIP components.
ENUM Commander: Carrier-grade DNS Solution Streamlined for ENUM
ENUM Commander is directly focused at storing ENUM records and performing complex lookups necessary for deployment in a large VOIP network. ENUM is a DNS platform with a centralized management architecture enabling it to distribute telephony records (known as NAPTRs) to local DNS resolvers. ENUM Commander provides both the centralized management platform and the distributed resolvers required in a highly scalable IP-based telephony registry.
Number Lookup: Maintaining the Expected Quality of VoIP Calls
Today, an end-to-end voice call may not exceed 400MS of round trip delay, of which the traditional call setup process averages 10-15MS. Due to time sensitivity, a call setup process using DNS to resolve number lookups must perform within the same 10-15MS range to keep the user experience at an acceptable level. In order to achieve this goal, a carrier grade DNS solution must be deployed to perform these complex lookups.
