How Service Activation Center Works

Service Activation Center enables broadband operators to associate both business and residential subscribers with a wide range of service types on a per subscription basis. Service Activation Center takes into account service options that are available to subscribers based on geographic and network dependencies. Acting as a core mediation layer within the operator's network, Service Activation Center manages and controls the full life cycle of service events.

The following is an example of activating services for a new subscriber in Service Activation Center:

  1. The subscriber is first accepted by the CSR. The CSR then assigns and enters a package into the service operator's system.
  2. Service Activation Center collects the subscriber's information and stores it in an SQL backend database
  3. An update is sent to the device provisioning solution, which updates the device assigned to the subscriber
  4. For voice services, Service Activation Center will also update the softswitch for VoIP line activation
  5. For video services, Service Activation Center will also update the digital video head-end controller
  6. For customers requiring email or web space, Service Activation Center adds a new email account to the email server or creates a web space on the Apache server
