What is TR-069?
The CPE WAN Management Protocol, published by Broadband Forum as TR-069, specifies a standard communication mechanism between customer premises equipment and a TR-069 auto-configuration server. According to a SPAC survey, in early 2009 over 40 million gateways were being managed by CWMP.
TR-069 Benefits
As an access network agnostic standard, TR-069 can be deployed in various networks including DSL, fiber-to-the-home, Ethernet, cable and WiMAX. TR-069 offers the following:
- Rich device management capabilities including dynamic service provisioning, software/firmware management, device monitoring and diagnostics
- A management standard encompassing a wide array of networking devices and services in the customer premises including home gateways, WiFi, IP phones, IPTV set-top boxes, network attached storage, HomePlug adapters, and femtocells
- Parallel management with protocols like DOCSIS. Cable operators can therefore continue using DOCSIS to manage the WAN portion of their cable gateway while taking advantage of the new LAN management capabilities of TR-069, enabling the roll-out of new services and improving customer satisfaction
Incognito Auto-Configuration Server
Incognito ACS enables zero-touch provisioning and management of TR-069 gateways and devices such as WiFi access points, VoIP phones and IPTV set-top boxes. The network agnostic solution operates over xDSL, PON, WiMAX, DOCSIS, and FTTx systems.
