Reducing OPEX with MAC-less Provisioning for Quad Play Gateways
The Challenge
- TR-069 provisioning requires unique IDs for CPEs
- A device’s MAC address need to be registered and associated with subscribed services before shipping
- High operational and logistic costs
The Solution
Broadband Commend Center overcomes the complicated ID problem by using MAC-less provisioning, which allows providers to ship any device to any customer without needing to pre-provision its MAC address.
- Enables "zero-touch" provisioning
- "MAC-less provisioning" allows service providers to ship any device to any customer, without needing to pre-provision its MAC address
- Securely identifies the unique subscriber ID injected by the DSLAM relay, allowing the DSL gateway to send the device identifier to the Auto-Configuration Server in order to identify itself and obtain configuration information
- Simplifies modem shipment logistics
- Improves customer support response times in case of CPE failure because new devices can be shipped without having to be re-registered in the database
