Reducing OPEX with MAC-less Provisioning for Quad Play Gateways

The Challenge

  • TR-069 provisioning requires unique IDs for CPEs
  • A device’s MAC address need to be registered and associated with subscribed services before shipping
  • High operational and logistic costs

The Solution

Broadband Commend Center overcomes the complicated ID problem by using MAC-less provisioning, which allows providers to ship any device to any customer without needing to pre-provision its MAC address.

Broadband Command Center

  • Enables "zero-touch" provisioning
  • "MAC-less provisioning" allows service providers to ship any device to any customer, without needing to pre-provision its MAC address
  • Securely identifies the unique subscriber ID injected by the DSLAM relay, allowing the DSL gateway to send the device identifier to the Auto-Configuration Server in order to identify itself and obtain configuration information
  • Simplifies modem shipment logistics
  • Improves customer support response times in case of CPE failure because new devices can be shipped without having to be re-registered in the database
