Vancouver
Though you may remember the city as the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, Vancouver has much more to offer as a prime destination for relaxation, outdoor adventures, and dining.
Key Attractions and Activities
Stanley Park
A visit to Vancouver is never complete without experiencing its natural wonders, and Stanley Park is the ideal place to start. Situated to the west of the downtown core, Stanley Park is an evergreen oasis of 400 hectares (1,000 acres). The park offers swimming and sunbathing at one of many beaches, lawn bowling and cricket on groomed athletic fields, and hours' worth of cycling around its scenic seawall. You can also hike among majestic cedar trees and observe many animal and bird species in their natural environment. There is truly something for everyone.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
Making the long trek across the historic 450-foot long Capilano Suspension Bridge, which spans across a 230-foot-deep canyon, is a thrilling experience. Once you get safely to the other side, Treetops Adventure lets you experience forest views from a series of mini bridges suspended by giant trees.
Granville Island
Granville Island is an oasis for artists, artisans and performers alike. You can find unique artwork, jewelry, and pottery crafted by local artisans. The public market features delicious local fare and great souvenirs to bring home.
Whistler Blackcomb
Less than a two-hour drive from Vancouver, there are few places in the world that can match the endless adventure and entertainment that Whistler Blackcomb offers. One of the top four-season resorts in North America, Whistler Backcomb is the perfect base for sightseeing gondola rides, alpine hikes, bear viewing tours, glacier walks, mountain biking, and afternoon mini golf.
